Changemaker Nomination: The Peace Alliance

Next in our series of 2012 Changemaker Nominations suggested by a chocolate lover!

Congratulations to The Peace Alliance:

Here’s what Annie has to say about this fearless organization:

“The Peace Alliance was established to support the campaign for a U.S. Department of Peace. Please check out “Department of Peace” under “Issues and Advocacy” on their website to learn more. We MUST turn away from violence and war as tools to resolve differences (both at home and abroad)…they always lead to more pain and violence, more anger and destruction.”

A little more about this group:

“The Peace Alliance empowers civic engagement toward a culture of peace.

We are an alliance of organizers and advocates throughout the United States taking the work of peacebuilding from the margins of society into the centers of national discourse and policy priorities. Our network includes volunteer grassroots teams in hundreds of cities, towns, colleges and high school campuses.

A great need exists in our country and world for a comprehensive and coordinated approach to preventing and resolving violent conflict. From the growing rate of domestic incarceration to increasing problems of international conflict, the United States faces great challenges around the issue of violence in our homes, communities and world. We do our part in the following ways: Advocacy… Education: Spotlight Peacebuilding… Galvanizing a Movement.”
